At South Coast Nannies, we pride ourselves on offering a truly personal and supportive service that goes far beyond simply matching families with nannies. We understand that finding the right childcare is one of the most important decisions a family can make, which is why we are committed to providing exceptional communication, fast response times, and ongoing support every step of the way.
We take the time to get to know both our families and nannies personally, allowing us to create thoughtful and lasting matches built on trust, compatibility, and shared values. From the initial enquiry through to placement and beyond, we are always on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide reassurance whenever needed.
Unlike many agencies, our relationship with families and nannies does not end once recruitment is complete. We continue to support both parties throughout their journey, ensuring everyone feels confident, valued, and fully supported long after the placement has begun.
As the employer, you will be responsible for paying all required employment costs associated with hiring a nanny. This includes Income Tax, National Insurance contributions, pension contributions such as NEST (or the equivalent requirements in your country of residence), and any other legal employer obligations. These costs are separate from and in addition to the nanny’s agreed net salary.
We always recommend that families use a professional payroll service to ensure all payments, deductions, and contributions are managed correctly and in line with current employment legislation. This helps provide peace of mind for both the family and the nanny, ensuring everything is handled professionally and compliantly.
Once we have carefully matched your family with suitable candidates, we will arrange interviews at a time convenient for you. Interviews can take place in person or virtually, giving you the opportunity to get to know each nanny, discuss your family’s needs, daily routines, and ask any important questions.
Following the interviews, we encourage families to take time to reflect and provide feedback. If you would like to move forward with a candidate, we can assist with arranging trial days where appropriate, discussing salary expectations, working hours, and confirming the details of the role.
Once both the family and nanny are happy to proceed, we guide you through the employment process, including contracts, payroll guidance, references, and any final checks. Our support does not end once the placement is made — we remain available to both families and nannies for ongoing advice, communication, and support throughout the placement.
At South Coast Nannies, the safety and wellbeing of children is our highest priority. Every nanny we represent goes through a thorough screening and vetting process in line with UK childcare and safer recruitment guidelines to ensure families receive the highest standard of care and professionalism.
Our vetting process includes detailed interviews, identity and Right to Work checks, verification of qualifications and childcare experience, and a minimum of two recent and relevant references which are carefully reviewed. We also require all nannies to hold an enhanced DBS check registered for childcare work, or be willing to obtain one before placement.
Where appropriate, we also confirm paediatric first aid training and discuss each candidate’s childcare approach, experience, and suitability for different family environments. We take great care in getting to know our nannies personally so we can confidently match families with trusted, experienced, and compassionate childcare professionals.
The recruitment process typically takes between 2–12 weeks, depending on the type of childcare required, the family’s specific needs, and candidate availability. Some temporary or urgent placements can be arranged more quickly, while permanent or specialist roles may take longer to ensure the right long-term match is found.
At South Coast Nannies, we take a thoughtful and personalised approach to every placement, carefully selecting candidates who are not only experienced and qualified, but also the right fit for your family’s lifestyle and values. Throughout the process, we maintain clear communication and regular updates so families always feel informed and supported.
Our priority is to create successful, lasting placements rather than rushing the process, ensuring both families and nannies feel confident and happy moving forward.
